Mecklenburg County, NC Initiates eRecording with Charlotte, North Carolina – May 9, 2006 – Mecklenburg County, located in south-central North Carolina with a population of over 750,000, has initiated an electronic recording system for mortgage documents which includes U.S. Recordings’ InteleDoc Plus™ as the submitting system to the County. A St. Paul, Minnesota-based leading provider of mortgage recording solutions, U.S. Recordings, provides key, industry-leading, centralized services directed at reducing the time required to record documents. The firm’s InteleDoc Plus software enables the fast eRecording of documents from lender to county, with nearly 100 percent accurate recording with the first submission. According to Judy Gibson, Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds, there are substantially fewer rejects through electronic recording, compared to paper filing, due to the screening process. “Our turnaround time is now measured in seconds with electronic recording, instead of days with the paper method,” said Gibson. “Our staff welcomed the concept of electronic recording, as it increased efficiency due to less handling and the elimination of redundant data entry,” added Gibson. “Our installation was very smooth, quick and professionally done with U.S. Recordings.” Recording fees were maintained at Mecklenburg County, with no increases for electronic recording. Mecklenburg County also realized the importance of testing the system by their staff with U.S. Recordings prior to the actual launch of the eRecording system. Testing included the connections as well as the quality of data. U.S. Recordings was one of the first submitters to Mecklenburg County with its InteleDoc Plus system for Level II documents. A Level II document is a TIFF image of a document along with certain data which a county can pull basic information, avoiding the initial re-entry of data to populate their indexing system. U.S. Recordings is the recognized industry leader in recording mortgage and transfer documents, lien releases and assignments for residential and commercial lenders in all U.S. jurisdictions, including traditional paper and eRecording processes.
