There are two types of loans registered on the MERS
• MOMs (MERS as Original Mortgagee):
Language is incorporated into the first page of the Security
Instrument that identifies MERS as the Original
Mortgagee. An 18-digit MIN number is issued to the
loan and displayed on the Security Instrument.
• Non-MOMs: Loans that were not
originated with MERS and need to be issued a MIN number
to be displayed on an assignment to MERS and recorded
with the county.
